Goodbye House 42 (pt.2) (+Cookies!)

Following on from my first post, here's the second and final part of saying goodbye to House 42. These are some shots I took last week when my friend Camellia came to visit. She lived in the house for around 6/7 months before leaving as she quit her course and is starting a new one in the summer. I wanted to capture the house in its 'natural' state, so here's a look inside student accommodation...

Continuing on from Part 1, here are some more shots of my room.

Goodbye House 42 (pt.1)

I'm writing this on my very last evening in House 42, which has been my home at university for the past 9 months. I have lived here with 9 other wonderful people, and we've had parties, we've baked cookies, watched films together, played poker, had sleepovers in each others rooms, and had two awesome roast dinners. I am so sad to leave.

This is the first time I've ever left a place I've loved knowing I'm never going to come back. There are places I have been on holiday, for example, that I have been sad to leave and that I want to go back to, but it's okay, because I know that one day I can go back. But I'm never going to live in this little, awesome bedroom again and that's sad.

So I thought I'd document the house before I go. Most of my things have been taken back home, and during the past week I've taken some photos on my Canon, but I took some more photos on just my phone today, and until I can get to my 70D, these will have to do! So, presenting, just a few shots of House 42:

This is my bedroom door. Room D!

I've loved decorating my room! Here's my Rocky Horror photo and some photos of me and my friends on the left, and me and Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki on the right (so I can see it when I wake up in the mornings!)

Here are some more posters on the opposite wall.

This is the view outside my bedroom window!

And this is my wall calendar. The pink crosses mark every single day I have lived here.

Goodbye House 42. You will be missed.

The Great Gatsby Ball

Edit (11 March 2015): This post includes some shots from an event that LitSoc held which was open to all students but attended mostly by English students, I think. I guess that makes sense. It occurred during my first year of university when I was studying English Literature and Creative Writing.

Most of the night was spent wearing long, black gloves which stopped me from being able to take many photos on my iPhone but I do have a few shots to share!

Flashback: First Month of Uni

Edit (11 March 2015): This post includes photos that were taken when I was studying English in my first year of university. I had nothing but fun and good times during this month. A couple of photos under the read more cut include some swear words, so I'd say don't view if you're 12 or anything. I thought about deleting those photos, but these old posts have become a sort of museum for me, and I don't want to meddle with the things I posted back then.

On the 28th of September 2013, House 42 all moved in and spent the following week together for freshers week. Here's a big dump of photos from our first month in 42.

Freshers Week
The following photos are from our first ever week together in the house:

All of Tom's things used to be handily labelled with 'TG' so we could easily identify his kitchen items. That seems to have stopped being the case now, though. Hmm...

The following photo was taken of us on our first venture to Rubix on moving in weekend. I love how underdressed we were that night (including Camellia's Uggs, which aren't pictured).

What do these symbols mean?!

House 42 Easter Roast Dinner

Edit (11 March 2015): I'm still annoyed by that photo above because it includes all of us who were living at House 42 apart from one person. We took a similar photo during our Christmas roast dinner, but that was also missing one person, so we never actually got a photo that had all of us in it. I'm the girl at the bottom left in the blue dress, and Camellia, who I mention in this post below, is the person to the right of me in the pink dress. To the right of her is Emily, to the right of her is Sarah, to the right of her is Raphael and at the far right is Mat. The person on the back row behind me is Abey, to the right of him is Fahmi and to the right of him is Lawrence. Then there should be Tom, but he'd left to go out at this point. #rude

After the success of our Christmas roast (which I will have to do a post on in the future) we decided to have a House 42 Easter Roast before we all leave for a month. It happened to coincide with Camellia's last evening living at 42, so it was part awesome and part melancholy, but overall the perfect meal. It's not often we get everyone in the house together at once.

Camellia's Leaving Party

Edit (11 March 2015): We were really good at house parties at House 42. That's probably due to our vast pre-drinking experience we had throughout the year, topped off with the amount of decorating me and Camellia did, helped out by the fact we didn't have many contact hours. Lots of free time dedicated to making the house (particularly the kitchen) look awesome. I talk about Camellia leaving in this post, and that was because she quit her course and therefore wasn't allowed to continue living with us because we were in student accommodation. This was during my first year of studying an English degree.

On Tuesday the 1st of April, House 42 had its leaving party to have a good send off for Camellia.

The day began with Tom looking a little (a lot) worse for wear from the night before after making it on the chunder chart...

...a stark contrast to Camellia looking dressed up and pretty!

The night consisted of Ring of Fire, Never Have I Ever, running around campus looking for the Dominos pizza delivery, and trying to drink and pick up cards without the use of our hands. And a big tower of beer cans.

A Goodbye Dinner Party

Edit (11 March 2015): I'm looking back now and thinking the order I did some of these posts in was crazy. This dinner party was held by a friend back home before a few of us, after taking gap years or the equivalent of, left for university. At this point I was leaving to study English Literature and Creative Writing. Most of these friends were people who I went to secondary school with.

On the 20th September 2013, Evie hosted a dinner party before some of us left for Uni. Here are the photos I took from the yummy meal.

If it wasn't weird and if I was rich, I would hire Evie to cook meals for me every day.

Alien Mind-Reading Prevention

Edit (11 March 2015): This is one weird post. We did a lot of weird things in House 42 now I think back, and had a lot of fun along the way. The weird things probably happened because we were a mixed bunch of people with no television and lots of opportunities to have fun in our newfound freedom. Who says we can't create an anti-thoughtreading alien hat like the one from the film 'Signs' and wear it on our heads? Nobody. This post was written during my first year of university when I was studying English Literature and Creative Writing.

Here are some unpublished photos from 19th November 2013 at House 42, featuring the Alien Mind-Reading Prevention foil hat:

I think it's clear from some of these photos that some of my housemates don't always appreciate my camera!

I'm clearly lovin' the hat...

Thankfully no thoughts were read by aliens that day.
